Weekly Homework - General Information

At the beginning of each week, your student will come home with a weekly homework packet to complete.  Generally it is due at the end of the week.

Homework is important for many reasons.  It helps develop responsibility and provides for additional one-on-one practice of skills your student is learning in kindergarten.

Now is an important time to create a routine for homework.
  • Where will the homework be kept while it is worked on during the week?  . . . it should be someplace safe where little brothers and sisters won't get to it . . . it should be the same place each time, so that you don't spend extra time hunting for it
  • What supplies should you have handy to complete homework?  . . . we are picky about using pencils when writing
  • Be a guide and supervise . . . it is your student's homework and they should do the work . . . there are directions on each packet, so please help your student in doing their best; just don't do it for them
  • Don't put it off until the last minute . . . you do have the week to complete it, so budget your time wisely
  • What does your student need to do with the homework once it is complete and how do you know that it was turned in? . . . as your student goes through their school career, this is an important concept that you and your student should know
